European Union’s role in supporting democratic development

at The Visitor’s Centre of the Little Parliament (Kansalaisinfo) on Monday 13th February, 9:00 – 10:45.

Keynote will be delivered by Ken Godfrey, Executive Director of the European Partnership for Democracy, a Brussels-based organisation comprising 13 European civil and political society organisations. Mr. Godfrey will give an update on the EU’s efforts to support democracy abroad focusing on the impact of recent policy changes on EU priorities, such as the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy and the EU Action Plan for Human Rights and Democracy 2015 – 2019

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs response will be given by Lotta Valtonen, Senior Adviser on Development Policy (Democracy and Governance) who will discuss the implementation of the EU Action Plan for Human Rights and Democracy.

9:30 Keynote by Ken Godfrey, Executive Director of the European Partnership for Democracy

10:20 Discussion chaired by Rilli Lappalainen, Secretary General of Kehys
followed by conclusions by Anu Juvonen, Executive Director of Demo Finland
