INVITATION: Seminar: ”Closing the gender gap in Tunisian politics”

Political Parties of Finland for Democracy – Demo Finland is pleased to invite you to a seminar “Closing the gender gap in Tunisian politicson Tuesday 11.12.

Four years after the adoption of the new Constitution, Tunisia has taken several steps towards improved gender equality, and is a great example in the region. The representation of women in politics is increasing and especially the results of the municipal elections in 2018 from the gender point of view were outstanding. At this moment almost 50% of local councillors are women. Now the question is, how is the political participation of women ensured beyond elections? Moreover, what are the key barriers for women in politics? How does the legislation respond to them? What do the newly elected women think of their role in political decision-making?

Demo Finland invites you to discuss these issues together with alumni from the Tunisian School of Politics. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 11th December at 10:00-12:00 in the Little Parliament’s Visitor’s Centre (Arkadiankatu 3, Helsinki).

The seminar will be held in English and is organized by Demo Finland and the parliamentary group of the Christian Democrats in Finland.
